Internet Service Providers
Commercial organizations that provide real-time, fee-based access to the Internet through the subscribing individual's personal computer using phone lines, cable TV lines, or a dedicated ISDN line. Users who connect the incoming signal to a wireless router may also connect to the Internet wirelessly via personal computers equipped with wireless capability. Also included are nonprofits that offer Internet access as well as governmental entities which provide free wireless Internet access within a specified geographic area. Some ISPs provide access to some or all Internet services including electronic mail, listservs, newsgroups/forums, frequently asked questions (FAQs), chat groups, and computer file archives.
